1. Mainly because after hearing The Blackout (pretty cool but Vertigo, Elevation, Boots 2.0), GOOYOW (Beautiful Day 2.0) and The Best Thing (U2 doing Coldplay doing U2) I was afraid they were going all in on their perspective of ''relevancy'', but listening to the whole album I'm happy most of the songs aren't in that style.
  2. Relevancy aside, I think they've succeeded in answering the question Bono tends to bring up in interviews: "why would anyone want another U2 album?"

This is certainly an album that they haven't written yet. When as Bono ever written so much about mortality? About having his faith in disarray? This album explores themes they never really have before, at least not as much as this deep dive, while also staying relevant in terms of its lyrical content and what's going on in the world right now. I love that he's beating the drum of the refugee crisis so damn much, but not in a cringey way. Summer of Love definitely sounded cringe-worthy on paper, but it's definitely not.
  3. The Sci-Fi mix of The Best Thing would fit a lot better on the album.
  4. There's only one song I really detest on the album and I know they'll play it at every tour date. The Showman.
  5. I hate that song
  6. It's definitely the most bizarre track on the album...
  7. I love the showman, has been stuck in my head all day
  8. Well, clearly 13 (There Is A Light) is a reworking of Song for Someone, too. I feel like I was pretty on the money earlier with my comment (before I had listened) about this just being the natural progression of some of the SOI songs...
  9. The Showman is definitely the weakest track on the album for me at the moment. And it's the one track when you see the tracklist that you just dont expect to be disappointed in. It jumped out at me as big tune, sadly it's falling flat
