1. I went out and listened to some of the guitar effects that Edge talked about....very cool....kinda made me think about the Pop B Sides/Singles....Hapiness is a Warm Gun...very industrial sounding.

  2. Found some interesting stuff regarding the (RED) wire....

"U2, Coldplay and The Killers have all recorded songs for a new weekly music service which will benefit HIV-infected people in Africa. This will be launched next month.

Each issue of RED(WIRE), which will cost $5, includes an exclusive song from a major artist, as well as a musician the charity hopes to promote. The service will launch on World Aids Day (December 1st) with The Killers' Christmas collaboration with Sir Elton John and Pet Shop Boys Neil Tennant, entitled 'Joseph, Better You Than Me'.

A song by U2, which was recorded last Wednesday, will feature as part of a later issue. In addition to MP3 tracks, which can be download automatically onto iTunes, users will receive a multimedia piece such as video or photography."

So the song is recorded, and it states that it will be used as a "later issue". Too bad it's not more specific.
  3. Also from NME.com....

U2 pushed back the release of their new album from late 2008 to next year because the record needed two more songs, according to the boss of their label.

Interscope-Geffen-A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine says he met with the band, who told him the album was two songs short, so the release date was adjusted to give them time to work on those tracks.

“I met with the guys in U2, and they say to me, 'You know what? This album needs two more songs, and it will be exactly what we have in mind.' :I go there and I listen, and I agreed with them.” Iovine told Billboard. “It's a great record, but it deserves the time. Labels need to work with artists to help them achieve their best work, not to jam records out that are half-baked or three-quarters baked.”

Two more songs? First they say they have over 60, but they need two more? Either they are really getting into the idea of an "album" as it should be, trying find perfect songs to finish a record, or they are just buying time.

Later issue for what? For (RED)? For U2?

If it was recorded last Wednesday, I doubt that it's a song from the new album. Isn't Lanois in London right now supposedly mixing the new album?
