1. cut the crap, stop saying it's a vendetta about u2start. it's a all about mp3 and tapers' wishes. stop implying we're persecuting you.
  2. Wow, this thread is a GREAT read. I’m for respecting a tapers wishes or at LEAST trying to respect them. Especially in the U2 community of tapers, traders and fans. At least make an effort. What I see from the posts of those in charge of this site is that they don’t care. It’s the once it’s posted we are not responsible approach. I disagree with that completely. But it’s your site, do what you please. It’s also indicated by MANY on this thread including people who run this site that if you don’t want a recording to go out in MP3 then do not post it, as it will not be missed. Okay, that is fine, this is one of the reasons I have shared very little of what I have and what I have taped. So let’s all agree on this. If a taper has conditions on a recording they should not share it. I think that is a good rule. Here is the thing, if we all agree to this then I don’t want to hear any BS about how a taper is “not a true fan” or my favorite an “elitist hoarder” because they don’t share everything they have. You cannot have it both ways. Most of the tapers I know are not in it for any type of recognition or glory (a few are), they just want the best possible recording or want to make sure there is at least a recording of the show they attend. There is nothing wrong with that or not having some compelling need to share everything they have or have done. It does not make them any less of a U2 fan.

If at present, the achtung_baby recording is the only one out there, does it not satisfy him enough that whenever someone downloads a bootleg of the show, they can only be downloading his recording be it lossless or MP3? U2Start quite clearly states who taped the show. All credit is given to the original taper, no-one is trying to pass it off as their own or sell it and that would piss me off more than someone converting it to MP3.

Many tapers simply want their recording to be only shared in lossles. That is a true quality recording. MP3 is lossles. Easy as that.
If I was a taper I wouldn't mind myself. But achtung_baby minds. He'S got his opinion on this and we should respect it and not break it so blatantly as u2start.com does.

  4. who cares about you ? it's not if you were a taper. so what pisses you off or not is not an interesting matter.

  5. That's his opinion. Is he not allowed to have an opinion?

  6. Excuse my sarcasm. We have an issue here that is unlikely to be resolved. We have here a site that delivers mp3 to a big audience who want it. That bit is clear. The morals behind it are decided by somebody else.

    Let's continue though. . . . .

    Non tapers can't have opinions?

It's just sad for the ppl/leechers who actually would follow taper's wishes and, if ever, only convert to Mp3 for real personal use.

    The solution could be simple...respect.

  9. Are you advertising respect?

Tapers are not the only people who deserve respect. Think you forget about a whole range of other kind of u2 fans.

Its just sad for that for the common people there would be no u2 bootlegs. People who have interest in lossless know not to reencode. People who dont arent going to interfere with you guys at u2torrents.

I sort of agree with you. But clearly a large percentage of downloaders and more improtantly people that own and help run this site don't care about it as they have spelled it out. .

Its sort of sad to see how a U2 site would blatantly disrespect a U2 tapers wishes. I think that is what is the most disturbing about this. Then again, I wont be losing any sleep over it.
