Sydney....noone knows I guess. Though Adam wasn't there, they probably have still used Edge/Bono/Larry shots from the first night. It's at least not impossible they did so.

A friend noticed scenes from 11/11 show in the IWF clip.
Don't forget that the Sydney show was broadcast live, so the dvd is completely from night 2. Night 1 was only to test everything (and also to have a concert lol).

Same thing for Mexico 1997: it was broadcasted in Mexican TV first (with less editing), night 2 only.
    No love for JT Paris?
  3. Whatever, the premiere is here, we have a 3-night-edit. The mass of sources didn't make it better, though.
  4. are we really surprised? it's hamish hamilton ffs it's too bad, really... they could do so much better.
  5. It's doing well in the Amazon UK Music Video & Concert charts. Though I don't that's a major claim to fame given that last year's Eurovision is currently third.
  6. I like the preview so far but i got to see the other songs that make use of the giant screen. The editing feels like a JJ Abrams production, Continuity errors but i'm fine with it
  7. The last night I watched The Last Waltz by Martin Scorsese (for the first time). I read many many times it was the best concert movie ever, and...it really is.

It is truly the best possible example of how a live gig should be preserved on film. The Last Waltz has interviews in between songs, which I normally don't like, but in this movie even those interviews fit in just perfectly. Anyway, the live footage is simply amazing, great music and is so well shot that is makes all other DVDs look like really poor efforts. If you are not familiar with it, check it out, it is really worth it. All directors of music DVDs should watch it at least once a month and pay close attention. The main lesson is - the less cuts the better! Always. Period.

  8. This shot looks awesome
  9. It looks very good for the average eye, and pretty crap for the averagely trained (or nitpicking) fan.

I thought I remembered reading that they did in fact use some footage from Night 1 and that if you looked carefully that you could sometimes see Stuart Morgan with a hat instead of Adam at some points? Time for me to rewatch Zoo TV Sydney...

On point of the upcoming Paris DVD, I have to say how happy I am that they are including "People Have the Power" at the end with EODM. Such a powerful way to end the show after what had happened.

Super off topic, but... Sydney's original PPV broadcast differs in quite a lot of shots from the final released product. That means they probably (but not sure) used shots from N1 as well as replaced wobbly/mediocre shots with better ones that weren't chosen on the fly for the live broadcast.
  12. I know I'll probably get a lot of crap for this, but Coldplay has released two quality concert films for their MX and Ghost Stories tours. After watching those two, my expectations for concert films increased dramatically.

I'm still going to buy this and even watch it a few times (especially the bonus material), but I'm more interested to know if the audio is any different compared to the HBO broadcast.
