Joshua Tree Tour 2019
Legs (1): New Zealand, Australia and Asia
Shows: 15
  1. I've been in meetings most of the day, can I have a concise synopsis of developments today.
  2. What is the announcement status? I haven’t followed the breadcrumbs, but everyone is behaving as if this is a sure thing (I have little reason to doubt you all!)

If its that upsetting then look away. You know what we're going to be posting. We've been doing it for far too long at this point.

And to be clear, I have no issues with those that want to discuss it, express their disbelief, and even those who might want to stop following us over it. Happy to discuss it. Have been all along. And we're right there reminding people that things do change, that this isn't written in stone, and it's healthy to have some disbelief and not book yourself a month long vacation to Australia...unless you actually want to see Australia if the tour doesn't materialize.
those treaths are of course unacceptable, but what made you decide to share your information in such a detailed and convincing way? There must be many more people who know of the tour plans, but we see hardly any information show up, but u2songs does have a lot of detailed information... usually there is some smoke and you assume there's a fire as well.. now there's only fire, hardly smoke..
  4. Nada....... Just waiting for an announcement, which should be within a week or two.

Just some 'discussions' between those who are pro-rumours & those who are anti-rumours

Pending, delayed for a week or so.

It's very close to a sure thing. As there was an official leak on Ticketmaster, with presale & general sale dates. Though this leak was plugged (ticketmaster.com.au/u2 site removed), & those dates have come & gone. Though not offering anything as concrete, there was also one radio station discussing the fact that U2 & Noel Gallagher would be coming, thinking the tour has already been announced. There's a podcast of that broadcast.

The real talking point should be that it's supposed to nearly be winter in Sydney, & it was 20°C at 11:30 at night

  6. And even when the tour is officially announced and tickets are sold, things still aren't written in stone.

I believe the last 4 U2 tours have all had some dates cancelled or rescheduled.

Can I politely ask what is the point your are trying to make?

I'd like to think I am someone who is neither gullible (blindly believing any rumour) nor sceptical (always clinging to disbelief); but one who critiques and evaluates the information presented. For me, the idea of a short tour of Australasia makes no sense, particularly after the last three tours, a lack of a new album and comments by the band. BUT, this rumour has been percolating for almost 6 months and not gone away yet. Yes, a lot of the information here has come from U2songs but you have to ask yourself what do they stand to gain from spreading untested misinformation or even outright bullshit. The answer is 'nothing' and in fact they stand to lose more in terms of integrity and reputation.

So for me, the idea of a tour doesn't make sense for a number of reasons but, having thought this through, I trust that the rumours are reliable. The leaked info on TM corroborates it. I'm still open to the idea that some of the finer details may change and that the tour plans could be scrapped altogether but for now I am optimistic it will happen and thankful to the team here and at U2songs for sourcing, verifying and sharing information.

It's very strange that Ticketmaster would put up that post about the tour and then take it down again they are an official ticket outlet so it's not like that it was a leak from some fan site who then got their knuckles wrapped by Live Nation hopefully it's just some marketing tool to create a buzz.

It was put up before the announcement was due on Monday morning, which probably meant it was a mistake. It happens. Universal Music in Australia accidentally released No Line on the Horizon two weeks early because of a similar mistake. Updating their systems and it was public instead of set to private...
  10. True, but I suspect that someone at Ticketmaster go a rap over the knuckles for prematurely releasing the website page,, or someone at Live Nation copped it for failing to tell them about the delay. I don't think it was a marketing ploy.

We've always shared rumours since we started out 24 years ago - although much of the tour stuff that came my way wasn't posted at the main site, as I worked on a dedicated Tours site for 18 years of that time. We've always passed along what detail we have when we can. And if we are asked not to share something we do follow those requests. And believe me - U2's management knows how to get a hold of us if we cross a line.
  12. Perhaps this thread could just be renamed “The Joshua Tree Tour 2019 Rumours”.

Seems that would solve some problems..
