This isn't meant to be sardonic, cynical, sarcastic or what have you (the correct word escapes me but I hope you catch my drift)., I just wanted to point out that it isn't always "hallelujah" in whatever walk of life one chooses to follow, whether you follow a theistic life or an atheistic life - the difference is how we approach such hills and valleys, I guess, based on the life we have chosen to lead
  4. i edited my original post:

wondeful.... i can tell people about my own religion that I follow.

I believe in Love + Peace.

I was raised Catholic, but I just don't see the point of it. Why try to live a perfect life being reminded every day that you aren't. And I'm not saying I am perfect, no one is.

U2 has taught me some stuff. I have another story, but now aint the time.

I'm no "hippy" or "pacifist". I feel that a person should be able to go around, and not have to "convert" folks or even be afraid of something. I believe in something greater - emotions.

Why believe that there is someone always watching you? Critisizing you for everything you do. I like to think our emotions are the greater being. We always seem to follow them all the time.

I believe in heaven and hell, heaven is for the folks who live peacefully and are true in their heart. Hell is for those who, well are assholes and pricks. The folks who get a laugh out of someone else's pain.

I like to believe people are essentially good.... it's who raised them and personal experiences that define our character. What turns people "bad" is greed and jealousy. If you avoid those two things, you're essentially happy with what ya got. Sure, it's our nature to always want more, but a person can learn to control themself.

Like I said, I believe in Peace + Love

And I think John Lennon and U2 have the right ideas in some cases.

"all you need is love" - the Beatles

True..Everyone faces problems, sorrow and also happiness. It's life, and we have to face it. How you cope with it depends per person.

    Jesus said

    John 15: 18-19
18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."

We have to be aware that Bible has been modified trough years as Church wanted to...

But I have to say this...it isn't matter to me if Jesus even existed as a person or not. The whole idea of Jesus is something extraordinary. And if you follow that idea, you can't be wrong.

the first part i disagree with, because Jesus said the only way to the father is through Me....

But the second part is exactly what I believe

in fact guys have a look at this website www.jacobswellsac.org

my friends and I are planting a church and this is the website for it If you go to the team section....you'll see a familiar name please give it a look
  11. I can't speak on behalf of all faiths, but I have studied my own (the Catholic faith) in some detail, so I feel compelled to share some appropriate context if I believe that one of the comments was based on a misunderstanding.

This is a strong claim to make without reputable scholarly evidence to back it up (i.e. evidence that stands up to scrutiny, not just some random blog spewing an invalidated opinion).

Copies of the Hebrew Masoretic Text, the Greek Septuagint, and the Latin Vulgate exist today which are considered to be remarkably faithful to the originals. And thousands of original manuscripts corroborate the text of the four Gospels.

This statement also implies manipulative intent on behalf of the Church (I'm guessing you're referring to the Catholic Church?). I don't know if this opinion is influenced at all by "The Da Vinci Code" but if it is, it should be made clear that that is a work of fiction written by guy named Dan Brown a mere 5 years ago, which wasn't meant to fool anybody.
  12. Born and raised by a jewish mother and a christian father, I don't believe in god and religions.

Religion is the desperate try to find a sense in our existence. I personally don't think that faith is wrong or evil. But in the hands of humans, Religion became a very dangerous thing...
