Wait a second...so you're saying there's no hope for Muslims, Hindu, Buddhists and all the others?!

I'm not referring to Dan Brown and his book (I didn't even read it), but for years many historians are claiming that Bible was modified by the wishes of Catolic Church. You have many books and documentaries if you want to investigate this. For almost 1500 years Christianity was tool to manipulate with people.

More dangerous than an atomic bomb. Because people tend to abuse it.

Totally agree with that, and is partly why I don't find myself feeling in any way inclined to take up a religious way of life because I don't feel compelled to try and make sense of why we're here etc. I personally have don't feel that I need to look to religious teachings etc. to live a morally good life, but I am certainly not going to tell anyone else how to live their life

Definitely - as far as I know, no religious text encourages or incites violence and misery, but the problem is that such religious texts can be vague and unclear, and in such situations, there are those who would exploit this to their own ends, e.g. in my understanding, and having spent the best part of 7-8 years learning about religion through school and 6th form, nowhere in the Bible is there any part that directly castigates and opposes homosexuality, yet it's still seems to be a very difficult subject for a lot of people because there are those who point to apparent inferences of such teaching without having any direct evidence to support it.

I think that's a very good observation - religion is nothing without faith, but faith doesn't need religion

  7. i don't believe in religion either. i do go to a baptist church. but as far as the "rules" of our church... FOLLOW THE BIBLES INSTRUCTIONS. nothing else!

The Bible is GOD BREATHED TRUTH.

What happens when you die? Where do you think we go if you do not have a faith or belief in God?

If I were looking at the world from the point of view of just the here and now, and being a good person and being morally and ethically good.. that will not get you into heaven. you will be damned for eternity!

I will pray for those without faith or belief in God.

******** I am not telling you what to do... I'm just sharing what I have read in God's truth, the Bible****

I can't say anything that will make anyone believe. God does that to who he chooses.

After this life my rotten bones will turn to dust. Noone will be damned. There's no heaven, there's no hell, there's no eternity. It's as simple as that to me.
The bible is an interesting book. It transports some essential values, the Tanakh and the Qur'an and the Hadith, too btw.. But they're just books. No truth given by a god that doesn't exist.

I've got 2 questions to the religious members, though. I hope you don't take them the wrong way, I'm just curious:

    1. What's your position on Theodicy?
    2. What do you think about evolution?

Can you imagine you won't feel anything? Won't breathe, won't see, won't...?

    1. God made an agreement after the Great Flood with Noe that he will never again interfere to human's acts, but it doesn't mean He can't do it. Anything you do, He will judge you when you die.
    2. Evolution? My great-great-grandfather was human, Darwin's was an orang-utan

    1. evil is the lack of good...just like dark is the lack of light.
2.what evolution? society evolution? human evolution? species evolutio? darwin and all that stuff?elaborate please.
  11. Okay, I'll rephrase my questions, to be clearer:

    1. If god is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent, how is it possible that evil and suffering exists?

    2. How does biological Evolution get along with the Sacred Scriptures of the Abrahamic religions?

To be honest mate, I personally don't really worry about death - I'm very much of the "cross the bridge when you come to it" group of thought. I don't pretend to have any idea what happens when we die, but the fact is I'm not up for giving it much thought because for the moment, "I think therefore I am" - I'm here 'cause I'm here, as it were
